4.1.7. Removal, check of a state and installation of the camshaft and pushers

Performance of the works described below will require the following special tools: a micrometer (for measurement of diameters of necks of the camshaft), the dial measuring instrument of plunger type (for check of a beating of a shaft). |
Removal

The camshaft can be removed at the engine installed on the car. However, previously it is necessary to remove a front grille, a radiator, the air conditioner condenser (if is included in the package) and a skotootboynik in view of what authors of this manual recommend to remove after all in the presence of access to the lifting equipment the engine. |
|
|
- Remove the engine from the car.
- Remove a head of cylinders with laying.
- Take pushers from the block of cylinders, putting them as installation on the block.
- Install the dial measuring instrument by a plunger to a camshaft asterisk surface (see an accompanying illustration), then, moving a shaft the lever in the longitudinal direction, measure the size of its axial side play. If the side play exceeds 0.05 mm, replace a persistent plate of a shaft.
- Remove chains and asterisks.
- Give bolts of fastening of a persistent plate of the camshaft. Prepare a piece of a strong wire which can be entered into the block of cylinders for the purpose of a camshaft pripodnimaniye in the course of its extraction.
- Temporarily establish into place a camshaft asterisk for the purpose of simplification of the procedure of extraction of the last.
- Carefully take the camshaft, using the prepared wire for supporting in the lifted provision of the back end of a shaft for the purpose of prevention of damage of soft material of bearings.

Simplification of understanding of the procedures described below will be helped by an explanatory illustration. |

|
- Wash out the camshaft and pushers in suitable solvent, then dry them, blowing in compressed air.
- Check working ledges of cams and a neck of bearings for existence of signs of wear in the form of cavities and development of a layer of superficial training. By means of a micrometer measure height of each cam and diameters of bearing necks of a shaft. Write down results and compare them to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management). In case of need replace the camshaft.

At detection on cams of a shaft of cavities or other traces of excessive wear it is necessary to make also careful survey of working surfaces of pushers. When replacing a shaft it will be correct to replace also pushers. |
- Oboprite the camshaft on two V-shaped blocks and by means of the dial measuring instrument measure the size of its beating. In case of need replace a shaft.
- Check camshaft bearings for existence of scratches, zadir and peeling of material. At emergence of suspicions about wear of bearings measure by a micrometer their diameters. Authors of this manual recommend to make replacement of bearings in the workshop of car service specializing in restoration of engines where there is all the equipment, necessary for performance of this task.
- Measure outer diameters of all pushers and compare results of measurements to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management). In case of need replace pushers.

Installation
Installation is made as it should be, the return to a removal order.
|
|
- Install the camshaft in the block of cylinders, as well as at removal using temporarily put on asterisk and a piece of a strong wire for simplification of the procedure. Track that all bearing surfaces were oiled by pure motive.
- Establish pushers in the former nests (if did not make replacement).
- Establish a persistent plate of the camshaft (new if the axial side play of a shaft exceeded admissible value). Tighten bolts of fastening of a plate with effort of 7 ÷ 8 Nanometers.
- Install the other components removed in the course of dismantle.
