6. A power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases

Power supply system of carburetor engines (3.0 l and early 4.2 l)

General information

The power supply system of cars of the Maverick and Patrol series (models of 3.0 l and 4.2 l till 1992 of the issue) consists of the carburetor, the fuel pump, the air cleaner, the fuel filter and the fuel tank.

On all models the carburetor of one type with insignificant distinctions for models of 3.0 l with AT and RKPP is installed. All differences as performing procedures of service of these carburetors are listed in the text of the Head.
The carburetor is the two-chamber unit with the mass float-operated cell. Fuel level in the float-operated camera is supported by means of the needle valve operated by a float.

Primary (I) system of the carburetor (system of idling) is responsible for configuration of air-fuel mix on small and average turns of the engine and during acceleration. Also here gas mixture for start of the engine when the air gate is closed is formed.

Secondary (II) (main dosing) the system forms mix for high turns and conditions of intensive loads of the engine.

The accelerating pump provides additional supply of fuel during acceleration of the engine by means of the plunger device operated from draft of a butterfly valve with a control ball.

The device of automatic equipment of start is equipped with electroheating, and the special vacuum drive provides a priotkryvaniye of a butterfly valve at launch of the cold engine, maintaining by that its working capacity at the initial stage.

The carburetor is equipped with the electromagnetic locking valve of interruption in supply of fuel operated from the ignition lock. At switching off of ignition the valve blocks the channel of supply of fuel of idling, minimizing time of useless operation of the engine.

On models of 4.2 l supply of fuel is carried out by not maintainable mechanical gasoline pump established on the block of cylinders. On models of 3.0 l fuel moves the electric pump located in a gasoline tank. The special control unit located behind the protective panel under the assembly block of safety locks is responsible for operation of the pump.
