4. Engine

Engine of 4.2 l

General information
The engine belongs to 6-cylinder line units with the top arrangement of the valvate mechanism (ohv), a cross and line head of cylinders from aluminum alloy and a pig-iron case.

The bent shaft is installed in seven radical bearings, the sixth of which is persistent, being responsible for the size of an axial side play of a shaft.

Pistons are equipped top and lower with compression rings and a 3-section oil scraper ring.
Piston fingers have floating landing in heads of rods and in a tightness are filled in pistons. Fastening of fingers is provided with lock rings.

The camshaft rotates in seven bearings and is equipped with the built-in driving gear wheel of the distributor. The driving asterisk of the camshaft is established on its forward end. The drive of the camshaft is carried out from cranked by means of chain transfer (with a roller chain). Rotation frequency - half concerning that for a bent shaft.

By means of the second chain the drive from a bent shaft of the oil pump is carried out.
Lubricant of gear wheels of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism and chains is carried out through the special nozzle established in a forward part of the block of cylinders.

The drive of valves is carried out by means of firm pushers, bars of pushers and cast yokes. Yokes are put on the general axis and are greased through drillings in its pedestals.

The replaceable directing plugs of valves are pressed in a head of cylinders and equipped with the maslootrazhatelny caps preventing giving superfluous against the required amount of oil.

The oil pump of rotor type is installed in a forward part of the block of cylinders. The cam located in a back part of the oil pump puts the fuel pump in action. Pressure of oil is supported at the set level by means of the sprung reducing valve located in the case of the oil pump.

The case of the engine is hermetically jointed with a rotation coupling/converter dome that allows to prolong service life of a starter and coupling (on models with RKPP). The stopper allowing to make periodically draining accumulating in a moisture/oil case is provided in the lower part of a dome of coupling.
