4.1.6. Removal, check of a state and service of components of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (chain and asterisks)

Performance of the works described below will require the following special tools: the stripper intended for a damper of tortional fluctuations (for removal of a pulley of a bent shaft), the tool for cutting of pillows of sealant.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Empty the cooling system, remove a radiator and the fan.
  3. Weaken collars and disconnect perepuskny and lower heating hoses from a cover of the drive of the gas-distributing mechanism (a cover of a gas-distributing chain).
  4. Take off driving belts from pulleys of the steering pump, generator and (if it is provided) air conditioner compressor.
  5. Give fixing bolts, remove the steering pump and, without disconnecting hoses, shift it aside, releasing working space.
  6. On models with the conditioner of air give nuts and bolts of fastening of the compressor on an arm, remove the compressor and fix it on a mudguard of the left wing. Give fixing bolts and remove a compressor arm from the engine.
  7. Uncover the distributor and, having turned the engine in the direction of normal rotation, achieve a runner turn towards an arrangement of a segment of a candle wire of the first cylinder in a distributor cover. At the same time distributive tag on a pulley of a bent shaft has to be combined with VMT tag on a scale of a cover of a gas-distributing chain. Now the engine is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the first cylinder.
  8. Remove the distributor from the engine.
  9. Give a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft (see an accompanying illustration). It is possible to prevent a pulley provorachivaniye, having wrapped up around it a driving belt and pulling it the lever. Remove a big washer from a bolt and screw a bolt back in a shaft pin end face for the purpose of prevention of damage of the last by a stripper.

  1. By means of a stripper remove a pulley of a bent shaft.
  2. Merge oil from the engine and remove the case pallet.

If the pallet is condensed on a case with laying instead of sealant, for removal of a cover of a gas-distributing chain will be to incline its forward part only enough.

  1. Give forward bolts of a head of cylinders and bolts of a cover of a gas-distributing chain and carefully uncover the engine. Try not to damage laying of a head of cylinders and the interfaced chain cover surfaces.

Simplification of understanding of the procedures described below will be helped by an explanatory illustration.

  1. Weaken bolts of fastening of a natyazhitel of a chain of the drive of the oil pump to the engine block. Block an asterisk of the drive of the pump and give a fixing nut. Remove assembly of a chain, asterisk of the pump and an external asterisk of a bent shaft from the engine. Remove a natyazhitel.

If asterisks are excessively hardly put on shaft, they should be hooked carefully for removal two levers.

  1. Give bolts of a natyazhitel of a gas-distributing chain of the drive of the camshaft and bolts of fastening of the directing chain. Remove a guide with a natyazhitel, - try not to lose a spring.
  2. Block an asterisk of the camshaft and give a fixing bolt. Remove from the engine a gas-distributing chain, and also camshaft asterisks, internal a bent shaft and the drive of the distributor.

After removal of chains try not to turn the engine as it is fraught with the damages connected with blows of valves about pistons.

Check of a state

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wash out all components in suitable solvent and dry them compressed air.
  2. Check links of a chain, an asterisk, a natyazhitel and the directing overlays for existence of signs of excessive wear. Replace defective components.
  3. Make sure that the plunger freely goes in the case of a natyazhitel in both directions. In case of need make replacement.
  4. Remove sealant traces from a cover of a gas-distributing chain and the block of cylinders. Check a cover for existence of signs of deformation by means of the planeness measuring instrument (an edge of a steel ruler) and the probe of lezviyny type. In case of need replace a cover.
  5. Check passability of a nozzle of supply of oil in a forward part of the engine. In case of need clean a nozzle a wire, or blow it compressed air.
  6. With the help a small beard take an epiploon of a bent shaft from a cover of a gas-distributing chain. Try not to damage walls of a nest of landing of an epiploon. Fill a new epiploon with sponges towards a bent shaft.

Installation

Installation is made upside-down.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure that the engine still is in the provision of VMT of the end of a step of compression of the first cylinder. It, in particular, means that pins of cranked and distributive shaft have to be developed by shponochny grooves up. In case of need slightly correct the provision of shaft.
  2. Put on a gas-distributing chain asterisks of the camshaft and internal a bent shaft. At the same time brilliant links of a chain have to appear opposite to distributive tags on asterisks (see an accompanying illustration).

  1. Install assembly of a chain with asterisks on the engine, watching that there was no rassovmeshcheniye of brilliant links of a chain to distributive tags.
  2. Block an asterisk of the camshaft and tighten a fixing bolt with effort of 132 ÷ 142 Nanometers.
  3. Establish assembly of a natyazhitel of a chain and tighten bolts of its fastening with effort of 7 ÷ 8 Nanometers.
  4. Establish the directing slip, adjust a gap of a natyazhitel, having established it on 0 mm, using a chain weak point, and tighten fixing bolts with effort of 7 ÷ 8 Nanometers.
  5. Put on a chain of the drive of the oil pump asterisks of the pump and external a bent shaft. Track that the asterisk of the pump was turned by the long acting part of a nave towards a cover of a gas-distributing belt.
  6. Install assembly of a chain with asterisks on the engine. Block an asterisk of the pump and tighten a fixing bolt with effort of 24 ÷ 28 Nanometers.
  7. Establish the directing overlay of a chain of the drive of the oil pump, then press it a finger for the choice of a weak point of a chain. Tighten slip bolts with effort of 7 ÷ 8 Nanometers.
  8. Impose a continuous pillow of qualitative sealant with a diameter of section of 2 ÷ of 3 mm on the interfaced surface of a cover of a gas-distributing chain. Within five minutes after overlaying of sealant press a cover to the block of cylinders, having tried not to break a pillow continuity at the same time.
  9. In several stages tighten bolts of fastening of a cover with effort of 21 ÷ 26 Nanometers.
  10. Slightly grease with sealant on perimeter an internal surface of a pulley of a bent shaft, then get a pulley on a shaft pin by means of the hammer with soft brisk. Grease with sealant of a carving and washer of fixing bolts and screw the last, having tightened them with effort of 142 ÷ 152 Nanometers.
  11. Install the case pallet.
  12. Install the distributor.
  13. Fill the cooling system, start the engine and check it for leaks.
