4.1.1. Removal and installation of the engine

Performing procedures of removal and installation of the engine requires the reliable lifting equipment with the confided rigging.
|
Removal
The general view of the engine and the scheme of placement on it the service equipment and units are presented on accompanying illustrations.
|
- Lift a cowl and take care of reliable protection of body panels of a front of the car.
- Lead round a cowl loop marker for the purpose of simplification of the subsequent installation. Disconnect a hose of supply of liquid of washing of a windshield from a cowl.
- Give fixing bolts and by means of the assistant remove a cowl from the car.
- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
- Empty the cooling system and remove from the car of assembly of a radiator and the fan (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating and air conditioning).
- Remove the air cleaner and a sleeve of an air inlet (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
- Weaken collars of fastening of hoses of giving and return of fuel to a gasoline pump. Disconnect hoses. Zakuporte the open ends of hoses in order to avoid hit in a dirt power supply system.
- Disconnect heating hoses from branch pipes on a partition of a motive compartment, - try not to damage the last incidentally. In case of need cut hoses for simplification of the procedure of their removal.
- Weaken nuts of fastening of a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve on the arm, turn of the lever transfer the gate to completely open situation and take the end of a cable from the holder. Remove a cable aside, having laid it so that it did not prevent further work.
- Disconnect vacuum hoses of the amplifier of brakes and the servo-driver of coupling from the inlet pipeline.
- Disconnect the main wire of food of a starter and disunite the electric socket of the traction relay.
- Disconnect the plug of the main wire of the generator, disunite the electric socket of the generator. Give a fastening nut on the grounding wire generator.
- Disunite the electric socket of a control lamp of pressure of oil and the sensor of the measuring instrument located under the inlet pipeline.
- Disunite the electric socket on the carburetor and disconnect an electrical wiring of the temperature sensor. Take an electrical wiring plait from under the inlet pipeline and lay it away from a working zone.
- Give a bolt and disconnect a grounding wire from an arm of the directing tube of the probe of measurement of level of motive oil.

If the plait of an electrical wiring of transmission is laid between the measuring probe and the block of cylinders, it should be shifted to the party, opposite to the probe, in order to avoid gearing during extraction of the engine. |
- On the models equipped with the air conditioner disconnect vacuum hoses of the stabilizer of turns of idling from a damper of a butterfly valve and the inlet pipeline.
- In the left part of a motive compartment disconnect grounding wires from a lifting eye of the power unit and an arm of the coil of ignition.
- Disunite the electric socket of the distributor and the socket of an electrical wiring of a clutch coupling of the compressor of the conditioner of air (if that is included in the package).
- Disconnect hoses of a coal adsorber from steel tubes on the engine.
- Establish drain capacity under the steering pump, weaken a collar of fastening of a returnable hose, disconnect a hose and merge hydraulic liquid of system of strengthening of a wheel. Give a hollow bolt on the pump, - try not to lose copper sealing washers.
- Tie up hoses of system of hydrostrengthening of a wheel away from a working zone, having wound them pure неворсящейся with rags in order to avoid hit in system of dirt.
- Car front also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.
- Give bolts and release plastic screw clips of fastening of protection of a case. Remove protection.
- On the models equipped with the air conditioner:
- Weaken a lock-nut of a tension roller and, rotating the screw-driver an adjusting bolt, take off a driving belt from a compressor pulley.
- Give the lower bolts and nuts of fastening of the compressor.
- Turn out the top fixing bolts, lift the compressor and fix it on a mudguard of the left wing.

Do not weaken fastening of lines of high pressure of the compressor in order to avoid damage of injuries and frostbites as a result of direct contact with coolant. Besides, loss of coolant will result in need of a recharge of system.
|
- Give nuts of fastening of a flange of a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases to a final collector, an otstykuyta a reception pipe, without changing its situation on the car.
- Give coupling dome fixture to an engine plate. Turn out bolts of fastening of intensifying arms, remove arms from the engine.
- Give fixing bolts and remove a starter from the engine, - perhaps it is necessary to overcome some resistance connected about need of destruction of a layer of sealant.
- On models with AT give fixing bolts and remove a rotation converter cover plate. By means of the suitable lever, turn the engine for a driving disk so that access to one of bolts of fastening of the converter opened. Having turned out a bolt repeat the procedure for the remained fixture. Wring out the rotation converter towards transmission.
- Hang out the engine by means of the suitable lifting equipment, having removed the weight of the power unit from the support.
- Give nuts of fastening of support of the engine to the block of cylinders and bolts of fastening of support to the chassis.
- Slightly raise the engine and remove support. Lower the engine on the chassis for simplification of access to the top bolts of fastening of a dome of coupling.
- Give the top bolts of fastening of a dome of coupling to the engine.
- By means of a thin knife or other suitable tool cut a sealant layer on coupling dome perimeter, - try not to damage at the same time the interfaced surfaces.
- Carefully lift assembly of the engine and advance it on the car. On models with RKPP track that the main shaft of the transmission freely left coupling assembly. On models with AT take care of that the converter of rotation did not drop out of the case.
- With extreme care, trying not to damage fragile components, take assembly of the engine from the car. In case of existence of the slightest uncertainty it makes sense to spend time for preliminary removal of the knots creating a hindrance.

Installation
Installation in the basic is made upside-down.
|
- Take care of careful cleaning of the interfaced surfaces of a dome of coupling and the engine. Impose a sealant pillow on a flange of a dome.
|
Tightness of landing of a back plate to the engine is also extremely important as it prevents leak of water in a coupling dome. |
- On models with RKPP do not forget to center by means of the special tool the conducted clutch plate on a flywheel, only after it tighten basket fixture (see the Head Stsepleniye).
- Before establishing forward support of the power unit screw the top bolts of fastening to the coupling dome engine.
- Having transferred engine weight to support, tighten bolts and nuts of their fastening on the chassis and the engine.
- Fill in necessary amount of oil of the required grade in the engine. Fill the cooling system (see the Head of the Cooling system, heating and air conditioning).
- Connect a reception pipe of system of production of the fulfilled gases to a final collector, having established new laying.
- Grease with sealant a landing flange of a starter and establish a starter on the place.
- Adjust a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve (see the Head of the Power supply system and production of the fulfilled gases).
- Before primary start of the engine check correctness of all settings and adjustment of a tension of driving belts.
- After start track temperature of the engine and pressure of oil. Check the engine for leaks, in case of identification of those remove their causes.

The models of 4.2 l of late years of release equipped with system of injection of fuel (EFI)
Procedures of removal and installation of engines of 4.2 l equipped with the EFI system are generally identical to that for carburetor engines, except for the listed below moments.
|
- Before disconnecting the battery it is necessary to dump pressure in a power supply system for what:
- Give screws and lift the relay panel located in a motive compartment located in the neighbourhood with the battery. Uncover and take a safety lock of the fuel pump on 15 A;
- Start the engine and let's it work on single turns to a spontaneous stop. For a guarantee of completeness of dumping of pressure include a starter for 10 seconds;
- Switch off ignition.
- Remove the air duct and the muffler installed between the case of a throttle and the measuring instrument of an air stream.
- Instead of a detachment of fuel hoses from a gasoline pump weaken collars and disconnect a returnable fuel pipe from the fuel pressure regulator, and a fuel supply hose - from the fuel highway.
- Except the generator disconnect an electrical wiring also from the air regulator located under the right forward corner of the inlet pipeline. Disconnect the main tire of grounding from an arm in a forward part of the inlet pipeline, and also a grounding wire from a pipeline wall.
- Instead of an electrical wiring detachment from the carburetor and the temperature sensor disunite three electric sockets located on an arm in a forward part of the inlet pipeline.
- Miss the procedure of a detachment of vacuum hoses of the device of stabilization of turns of idling of the models equipped with the air conditioner.

Remember that before a detachment of all wires and their hoses it is necessary to mark surely.
|
- You make installation upside-down, taking into account the next moments:
- Track that any wires, cables and hoses were not clamped in process of installation of the unit.
|
- During filling the cooling system pay attention to existence of the stopper of production of air located in a forward part of the delivery camera of an air path as well as on models with the engine of 3.0 l (see an accompanying illustration).
|
- Installation of a radiator on engines of 4.2 l of EFI is made as well as on engines of 3.0 l.
