4.1.5. Service of a head of cylinders
Removal and installation
|
Implementation of the procedures described below requires the following special equipment: the tool for compression of valvate springs, a micrometer and the measuring instrument of planeness (an edge of a steel ruler).

Removal
|
The head of cylinders in principle can be removed assembled with the inlet pipeline and a final collector, however in view of relevancy of mass-dimensional characteristics of such assembly authors of this manual recommend to adhere to the order of implementation of the procedure stated below.
|
|
- Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
- Take care of protection against damages of a paint and varnish covering around a motive compartment.
- Empty the cooling system.
- Remove assembly of yokes with bars of pushers, the inlet pipeline and a final collector.
- Weaken hose collars and disconnect the hoses of cooling systems and heating preventing removal of a head of cylinders.
- Give a bolt of fastening of an adjusting bracket of the generator on a head of cylinders.

In order to avoid deformation of a head of cylinders do not give bolts of its fastening until the engine completely does not cool down.
|
|
- Give forward bolts of a head of cylinders in the neighbourhood with the water pump (see an accompanying illustration).
|
- Gradually weaken bolts of fastening of a head, working as it should be, return shown on an accompanying illustration. At extraction of bolts you watch to dropping in the engine a washer from a bolt No. 23.
- By means of the assistant take a head of cylinders from a motive compartment. Try not to damage incidentally interfaced surfaces.

Installation
Installation is made upside-down.
|
- Make sure of absoluteness of purity of the interfaced surfaces of the block and a head of cylinders, - on them there should not be agnails, zadir and traces of material of old laying.
|
- Check a head of cylinders for existence of deformations for what measure the size of its not planeness on diagonal and along the interfaced surface (use the planeness measuring instrument (an edge of a steel ruler) and the probe of lezviyny type - see an accompanying illustration). In case of identification of signs of deformation the head should be pierced, having brought its state into accord with standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management), or to replace.
|
- Similarly check planeness of the interfaced surface of the block of cylinders. Execute necessary repair (pro-point), or replace the block.
- Lay new laying of a head on the engine block, having tracked correctness of combination of its openings with the directing pins and working openings in the block.
- Install a head of cylinders on the block, slightly oil carvings of bolts and a washer and screw fixture.

Washers have to be established by facets to heads of bolts.
|
- Freely screw forward bolts of a head.
- Tighten the main fixing bolts in the order shown on an illustration according to the following scheme:
- At the first stage tighten bolts (main) with effort of 29 Nanometers;
- Further tighten them with effort of 78 Nanometers;
- Completely weaken bolts upside-down;
- Again tighten them with effort of 29 Nanometers;
- Tighten bolts with effort of 64 ÷ 74 Nanometers, or (that it is more preferable) by means of a goniometer for 69 ° ÷ 70 °.
- Tighten forward bolts of a head with effort of 6.4 ÷ 7.5 Nanometers.
- Establish into place assembly of yokes and a bar of pushers, and also the inlet pipeline and a final collector.
- Start the engine and check it for leaks.

Dismantling of a head of cylinders
|
Performance of capital repairs of a head of cylinders demands use of the special equipment. Acquisition or rent of such equipment usually are economically unprofitable at repair of only one head. In view of the aforesaid it will be expedient to charge performance of capital repairs of a head of cylinders to experts of a workshop of dealer office of the manufacturing company of the car, or car repair shop. In some company workshops it is possible to get the replaceable restored head on an exchange basis that allows to reduce idle time of the car considerably.

|
- Remove a head of cylinders from the engine.
- Uncover the thermostat a head of cylinders, take the thermostat and remove traces of material of old laying from the interfaced surfaces.
- Before extraction of valves remove coal deposits from combustion chambers. It will allow to minimize risk of damage of valves and their saddles.
|
- Lay a head of cylinders sideways and by means of the special tool squeeze springs of the first of valves (see an accompanying illustration).
|
- Take from a plate of valvate springs crackers of the cutting lock (components of valves are shown on an accompanying illustration).
- Release the tool and remove a plate of springs, springs and saddles of springs.
- By means of a file remove visible agnails and roughnesses from edges of a flute under installation of crackers of the cutting lock on a valve core, then take the valve from a body of a head of cylinders.
- Working according to the described scheme take all remained valves, putting them it is ordered with a binding to installation sites.

The lath with twelve numbered openings in which it is necessary to stick cores valves in the order of their installation in a head perfectly will be suitable for the ordered warehousing of valves.
|
- Carefully hooking, remove maslootrazhatelny caps from cores of valves. You will throw out them.
|
|
Cleaning and check of a condition of a head and its components
|
- Carefully clear valves and reject defective (with progara, cracks and deformation of cores).
- Carefully remove the accumulated deposits from reception and final ports of a head, cores of valves and their guides of plugs. Try not to damage the interfaced surfaces.
- Clear the interfaced head surface, channels of a water shirt, a support and a nest of installation of the thermostat.
- Wash up a head of cylinders in kerosene, wash out water from a hose, then carefully dry in order to avoid corrosion development.

- Insert each valve into the directing plug. Lift the valve so that the end face of its core acted on 30 mm. Fix the dial measuring instrument so that its plunger rested against the forming valve core shaft surface (see an accompanying illustration).
|
|
- Shake the valve back and forth parallel to the yoke arrangement plane. If the measuring instrument records the course over 0.2 mm, measure the internal diameter of the directing plug and outer diameter of a core of the valve by means of a micrometer (see an accompanying illustration). Compare results of measurements to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management), in case of need replace worn-out components. Repeat procedures for all valves.

As for removal and installation of the directing plugs the head is required to be warmed up up to the temperature of 150 ° ÷ of 160 °C, and competently to deploy plugs after installation, it is desirable to charge performance of this work to the expert. |
- Replace all spherical caps (release traffic jams of a water shirt) of a head of cylinders which serviceability of a state raises doubts.
- Check planeness of the interfaced surfaces of a head and the block of cylinders (see the subsection Removal and installation). In case of need pierce surfaces or replace the components which are not subject to restoration.
- Check serviceability of functioning of the thermostat.

Restoration of working surfaces of plates and saddles of valves
|
The qualified mechanic having special tools at the order has to perform this work. Authors of this manual recommend to charge it to experts of a workshop of car service.
|
|
- Pierce a plate of each of valves under the corner stipulated by standards (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management). In case of need grind off a valve core on the plane, however do not remove more than 0.2 mm of material. If width of a cylindrical part of the forming surface of a plate (corbel) goes beyond the lower admissible limit, the valve is subject to replacement.
- Check straightness of a core of the valve. In case of identification of an excessive bend also replace the valve.
- At a pro-point of saddles of valves surely equip a cutter of a special guide. As a result of processing the smooth indissoluble working facet has to be received.
- Excessively worn-out saddles are subject to replacement.
- Upon completion of processing of saddles width of their working facets has to conform to standard requirements which are various for inlet and final valves (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management).
- For check of development of a spot of contact grease a working surface of a plate of the valve with the Berlin azure, then install the valve in a head and rotate, having pressed to a saddle. After a plate separation of the valve on a working facet of a saddle the uniform indissoluble ring, coaxial saddle axes has to be formed. Check similarly quality of processing of all valves / turned gray.

Check of a condition of valvate springs
|
- Measure the free length of valvate springs. Compare results of measurements to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management).
- Check springs for existence of signs of deformation.
- If the special diagnostic tool is not had near at hand, compare length of the loaded spring to that for a new spring. For this purpose rest springs end faces each other, having laid between them a flat plate or a washer, then squeeze assembly in a vice. After data of sponges of a vice approximately on 13 mm length of a serviceable spring should not differ from length new more than for 5%. In case of need replace a spring.

Assembly of a head of cylinders
Assembly is made as it should be, the return to a dismantle order.
|
- Before assembly make sure of absoluteness of purity of ports and valvate saddles - on their surfaces there should be no traces of foreign materials. Slightly oil the directing plugs of valves and establish saddles of springs.
- By means of a piece of a suitable tube put on the maslootrazhatelny caps of cores of valves directing plugs. Depth of landing has to be observed with the maximum accuracy (see an accompanying illustration).
- Grease cores of valves and enter them into the corresponding guides of the plug.
- Put on a core of the valve of a spring and their plate, having tracked that springs were turned by rounds with the shortened step towards a head. Squeeze assembly by means of the special tool.
- Establish in a flute on a core crackers of the cutting lock and release the tool. Slightly tap a core end face the hammer for shrinkage of crackers in a flute.
- Repeat the procedure for the remained valves. Install a head on the block of cylinders.
