2.15. Diagnostics of malfunctions of systems of electric equipment of the engine
Battery and system of a charge
Battery charge level is low
The generator tension regulator is faulty. Replace the defective block.
The battery is faulty. Install the new normally charged battery of the required type.
The generator is faulty. Execute necessary recovery repair, or replace the generator.
The charge contour electrical wiring is faulty. Check, make necessary repair, or replace a plait.
Electric sockets of a contour of a charge are faulty. Check, make necessary repair or replace defective components.
The fusible insert fused. Remove the insert exit cause out of operation, replace an insert.

Check the charge level (specific weight of electrolyte) of the battery (see the Head Sistemy of electric equipment of the engine). If the charge of the battery is too low, try to establish the reason, working in the order stated above. |
Battery charge level is excessively high
The generator tension regulator is faulty. Replace the defective block.
The generator is faulty. Execute necessary recovery repair, or replace the generator.
The electrical wiring or electric sockets of a contour of a charge is faulty. Check, make necessary repair or replace defective components.

Sign of a recharge of the battery is the constant vykipaniye of electrolyte which is usually followed by its decolouration. |
The control lamp of a charge remains included after start of the engine, or the voltmeter registers too low voltage
The driving belt (belts) of the generator is torn off, or its tension weakened. Check a condition of a belt. Execute adjustment of a tension, or replace a belt (belts).
The generator tension regulator is faulty. Replace the defective block.
The generator is faulty. Execute necessary recovery repair, or replace the generator.
Short circuit on weight in an electrical wiring of food of a control lamp takes place. Check, execute necessary corrections.
The voltmeter is faulty. Execute necessary repair, or replace the defective device.
The control lamp the charge/voltmeter does not function
The lamp fused. Check, replace.
The break of an electrical wiring takes place, or the boss of a lamp is faulty. Check, execute necessary repair.
The generator diode failed. Execute necessary repair.
The voltmeter is faulty. Execute necessary repair, or replace the defective device.
The noise proceeding from a driving belt (it) or the generator take place
The driving belt (belts) is wiped, or planeness of an arrangement of pulleys is broken. Replace a belt (belts), or level pulleys.
Bolts of fastening of the generator weakened, or bearings of the last are worn-out. Tighten fixture, or replace bearings.
Fastening of a driving pulley of the generator weakened. Tighten a pulley nut with the required effort.
Generator diodes are faulty. Execute necessary repair.
Battery and system of start
The starter does not develop sufficient power for an engine provorachivaniye
The battery is discharged. Check serviceability of system of a charge, execute necessary repair.
The battery does not "hold" a charge. Check a condition of the battery, in case of need make its replacement.
Plugs or tips of wires of the battery are oxidized, or fastening of the last weakened. Smooth out, tighten terminal clips.
The starter is faulty. Check, execute necessary recovery repair.
The switch of the traction relay of a starter is faulty or quality of contacts is broken. Check, in case of need replace the traction relay.

Check the level of a charge of the battery and a state and reliability of fastening of all terminal connections. In case of need check serviceability of a starter and execute necessary repair (see the Head Sistemy of electric equipment of the engine). |
System of ignition
The engine is not started
Defect of primary contour of ignition takes place. Check a contour, execute necessary repair.
Primary or secondary winding of the coil of ignition is faulty. Replace the coil.
On models of 4.2 l the obgoraniye or pollution of contacts of the breaker can take place. Smooth out or replace contacts, execute adjustment of the breaker.
On models of 3.0 l violation of installation of an air gap of a rotor of the sensor of ignition is possible. Execute necessary adjustment.
On models of 3.0 l the refusal of an alarm rotor, the stator or control unit is possible. Replace defective components.

Will burst the distributor runner. Replace.

Spark plugs are faulty, or installation of an interelectrode gap is broken. Replace, or smooth out candles and expose interelectrode gaps.
On models of 4.2 l the ballast resistor can fail. Replace a defective component.

Execute checks of system of ignition from described in the Section devoted to failure diagnostics at start of the engine in road conditions. If failure of the system of ignition is revealed, check an electric part of system (see the Head Sistemy of electric equipment of the engine). |
The engine rotates, but does not develop the required power
Installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition is broken. Check, modify.
It is jammed, or the mechanism of the centrifugal proofreader of an advancing of ignition is excessively worn-out. Execute capital repairs of the distributor.
The vacuum proofreader of an advancing of ignition does not function. Check a condition of hoses and serviceability of the block.
The vacuum proofreader functions with the lowered efficiency. Driving draft is disconnected or broken.
Spark plugs are polluted or faulty, or installation of an interelectrode gap is broken. Replace candles, or clean them and expose an interelectrode gap.
On models of 4.2 l contacts of the breaker can be polluted, or there was a violation of their installation. Smooth out and adjust contacts, or replace them.
In a cover of the distributor condensate accumulated. Check, dry a cover and check it for existence of cracks and coal paths.
The ignition coil is faulty. Check, replace.
Wire VV are faulty. Check, replace defective.
On models of 3.0 l violation of installation of an air gap of a rotor of the sensor of ignition is possible. Execute necessary adjustment.
On models of 3.0 l the refusal of an alarm rotor, the stator or control unit is possible. Replace defective components.

Spark plugs are polluted or faulty, or installation of an interelectrode gap is broken. Replace candles, or clean them and expose an interelectrode gap.
In a cover of the distributor condensate accumulated. Check, dry a cover and check it for existence of cracks and coal paths.
Will burst the porcelain insulator of one or several spark plugs.
The ignition coil is faulty. Check, replace.
Wire VV are faulty. Check, replace defective.
The runner or cover of the limiter of turns are faulty.
