4.2.9. Replacement of epiploons of a bent shaft

Performance of the works described below will require a stripper (for removal of a pulley of a bent shaft).

Forward epiploon

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Empty the cooling system and remove a radiator.
  3. Take off driving belts from pulleys of the steering pump, generator and compressor of the conditioner of air (if the last is included in the car package).
  4. Give a bolt of fastening of a pulley of a bent shaft. It is possible to block a pulley from a provorachivaniye by means of an old driving belt and the suitable lever.
  5. By means of a special stripper (for removal of a damper of tortional fluctuations) remove a pulley of a bent shaft from the engine.
  6. Take off a gas-distributing belt.
  7. Remove a cogwheel and the back directing plate of a gas-distributing belt from a pin of a bent shaft.
  8. Take a cogwheel spline from a shaft pin.

If not to remove a spline, then at removal of the oil pump the epiploon will be damaged.

  1. Give bolts of fastening of the oil pump to the block of cylinders. Tapping on the lower part of an internal surface of the pump, remove it from a pin of a bent shaft. You will throw out laying.
  2. By means of a special stripper or the screw-driver with a flat sting carefully take an epiploon, trying not to damage the pump.
  3. Check purity of a nest of landing of an epiploon, slightly grease a new epiploon on perimeter with sealant. Put an epiploon in a nest aflush with a pump housing end face.

The epiploon has to be established by the main sponges to the engine and aflush with the case of the oil pump.

  1. Grease with sealant both parties of new laying of the pump.
  2. Slightly oil sponges of an epiploon and put on assembly of the pump a pin of a bent shaft, having tracked that lysk of an internal gear wheel correctly entered gearing with a bent shaft.
  3. Level the provision of assembly of the pump and its laying on the block of cylinders and screw fixing bolts. Tighten bolts with effort of 9 ÷ 11.8 Nanometers.
  4. Check a condition of the surface of a pulley of a bent shaft contacting to an epiploon, by means of an emery paper remove minor defects in the form of agnails, zadir and scratches. In case of detection of deep damages the pulley has to be subjected to recovery repair, or is replaced.
  5. Apply a thin film of sealant on perimeter of an internal surface of a pulley of a bent shaft and put a pulley on a shaft easy percussions of the hammer with soft brisk. Grease with sealant a carving and washers of fixing bolts, screw bolts and tighten them with effort of 142 ÷ 152 Nanometers.
  6. Fill the cooling system, start the engine and check it for leaks.

Back epiploon

For ensuring access to a back epiploon of a bent shaft it is necessary to remove the engine or transmission. The choice is left for the performer depending on existence of the necessary lifting equipment.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Remove the engine from the car, or remove transmission.
  3. Remove coupling from a flywheel.
  4. Remove the case pallet from the engine.
  5. Remove the case pallet from the engine.
  6. Give fixing bolts and remove from the engine the holder of a back epiploon of a bent shaft (components are shown on an accompanying illustration). Remove all traces of liquid laying from the holder.

  1. Lay the holder on pair of wooden blocks and beat out from him an epiploon by means of a suitable drift and the hammer.
  2. Slightly oil a new epiploon and put it in the holder by means of a suitable mandrel or wooden whetstone.

The epiploon has to be established by the main sponges to the engine and aflush with an external surface of the holder.

  1. Lay a pillow of sealant with a section of Ø of 2 ÷3 of mm in the holder's flute and press assembly of the holder to the engine. In stages tighten fixing bolts with effort of 21 ÷26 Nanometers.

Before starting the engine wait for not less than half an hour, having allowed to stiffen thereby properly to sealant.

  1. Working in the return with what at dismantle an order install all removed components.
