6.2.2. Service of a power supply system (fuel injection)

Implementation of the procedures described below will require the manometer with a range of measurement up to 600 kPa, the suitable three-running union and hoses.

Before disconnecting any components of a power supply system dump fuel pressure!

Dropping pressure in a power supply system

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Give screws and lift the panel of the relay of a motive compartment in the neighbourhood with the battery. Uncover and take a safety lock of the fuel pump on 15 A.
  2. Start the engine and leave it working at single turns to a spontaneous stop. For a guarantee include a starter for ten seconds.
  3. Switch off ignition and establish into place a safety lock of the fuel pump.

Check of external leak of fuel

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure available enough fuel of a gasoline tank.
  2. For five seconds include ignition.
  3. Wait thirty seconds and again include ignition for five seconds. It will lift pressure in fuel lines of a power supply system.
  4. Examine system components on existence of signs of leaks, paying special attention to a pump damper, the filter and nipple connections.

Check of pressure of fuel

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dump pressure in system and disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Disconnect a hose of supply of fuel from the fuel highway.
  3. By means of a piece of a fuel hose and reliable collars install the three-running union between a hose of supply of fuel and the fuel highway.
  1. Connect to a free branch of the union the manometer with a range of measurement up to 600 kPa (see an accompanying illustration). Make sure that all connections are capable to sustain estimated pressure.
  1. Connect a negative wire to the battery and check a power supply system for existence of signs of external leaks.
  2. Start the engine for three minutes on single turns and measure fuel pressure, - it has to equal about 235 kPa.

If temperature of the engine is above 90 °C on release models till October, 1994, giving of depression on the regulator of pressure will be cut off for three minutes after start of the engine for the purpose of rise in fuel pressure.

  1. If pressure of fuel is not enough, check passability of the fuel filter and lines of supply of fuel. Also check a condition of the mesh filter of the fuel pump.
  2. If pressure is excessively high, check correctness of connection of vacuum hoses of the regulator of pressure and passability of the line of return of fuel. On release models till October, 1994 connect a vacuum hose directly between the regulator of pressure and the inlet pipeline. If now pressure returns to normal, check serviceability of functioning of the electromagnetic valve of control of the regulator. If pressure is still excessively high, replace the regulator.
  3. Disconnect a vacuum hose from the regulator of pressure of fuel and make sure of increase in pressure approximately to 294 kPa. If increase of pressure did not happen, replace the regulator.
  4. Connect a vacuum hose to the regulator of pressure and kill the engine. Make sure that pressure continues to keep within not less than five minutes.

At the beginning small pressure decrease can take place. It is normal and should not cause concerns.

  1. If pressure does not keep, act as follows:
    1. Press a hose of return of fuel on pressure regulator. If pressure drop stops, replace the regulator.
    2. If pressure continues to fall, remove a clip from a returnable hose and press a hose of supply of fuel on the fuel filter. If pressure drop stops, eliminate defect of the control valve of a gasoline pump, or replace the pump.
    3. If pressure all the same continues to fall, it is necessary to check injectors for leaks. For this purpose remove from the engine the fuel highway with injectors, without disconnecting hoses of giving and return of fuel, include ignition and make external survey of injectors.
  2. Upon completion of check dump pressure in a power supply system and remove the manometer and the three-running union.

Service of the fuel pump

Check

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Execute the checks described in the subsection devoted to failure diagnostics of start of the engine in road conditions for models of late years of release.
  2. If there is no gasoline pump food at serviceable relays and a safety lock, check a condition of an electrical wiring between the relay and the pump, execute necessary repair.
  3. If food moves, but the pump does not function, measure resistance between a green-red wire of the pump and a black wire. If not 0.5 Ohms are result of measurement, replace the pump.

Removal and installation

The gasoline pump, as well as on models of 3.0 l is combined with fuel consumption sensor block. Procedures of removal and installation of the block are described regarding 1 this Chapter in the Section devoted to service of the fuel tank. It is necessary to take into account only that fact that before disconnecting a negative wire from the battery, it is necessary to dump pressure in a power supply system.

Check of the relay of the fuel pump

Procedures of removal and check of the relay of the fuel pump are in detail described in the Head Onboard electric equipment.

Replacement of the fuel filter

The procedure is in detail described in the Head Nastroyki and routine maintenance.

Service of the regulator of pressure of fuel

Removal and installation

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dump pressure in a power supply system.
  1. Disconnect from the regulator fuel and vacuum hoses (see an accompanying illustration).
  1. Give fixing screws and remove the regulator from the fuel highway. You will throw out a sealing ring.

Installation

Installation is made upside-down.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Install a new sealing ring on the regulator.
  2. Track reliability of tightening of fixture.
  3. Check a power supply system for existence of signs of external leak of fuel.

Service of the fuel highway and injectors of fuel

Removal and installation

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Dump pressure in a power supply system.
  2. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  3. Disconnect a cable of the drive of a butterfly valve from draft on the case of a throttle and the arm.
  4. Weaken collars, give a fixing bolt and remove an air duct with the muffler from the case of a throttle and the measuring instrument of an air stream.
  5. Disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor switch of provision of a butterfly valve (TPS), the valve of additional air (AAS) and the device of compensation of turns of bystry idling (FICD).
  6. Merge cooling liquid, having lowered its level lower than the level of an arrangement of cooling hoses of the delivery camera.
  7. Disconnect cooling hoses from the delivery camera.
  8. Mark and disconnect a hose of the vacuum amplifier of brakes, vacuum hoses and a hose of ventilation of the engine from the delivery camera.
  9. Give fixing bolts and remove the delivery camera with laying from the inlet pipeline.

Access to three of fixing bolts of the delivery camera is possible from under the inlet pipeline.

  1. Weaken collars and disconnect fuel pipes from the fuel highway.
  2. Disconnect a vacuum hose of the regulator of pressure of fuel.
  3. Disconnect an electrical wiring from each of injectors of fuel and release clips of clamps of fastening of a plait of wires on the fuel highway.
  4. Give fixing bolts and remove assembly of the fuel highway with injectors from the car.
  5. Take injectors from the highway.

Installation

Installation is made upside-down.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Without fail replace sealing rings of injectors. Before installation grease rings with technical vaseline.
  2. Fill the cooling system.
  3. Check a power supply system for existence of signs of external leak of fuel.

Check of a contour of injectors

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect an electrical wiring from fuel injectors.
  2. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between plugs of each of injectors. If resistance exceeds the limit of 10 ÷ 14 Ohms, the defective injector should be replaced.
  3. Connect a lamp sampler on a light-emitting diode serially between plugs of the electric socket of wires of each of injectors, including at the same time a starter. The lamp has to light up. Otherwise check a condition of fusible inserts near the battery. On release models between October, 1994 and August, 1995 check a condition of the relay of the fuel pump. If fusible inserts and the relay as it should be, it is necessary to check a condition of an electrical wiring and ECU. Address to dealer office of the manufacturing company of the car.
  4. For check of serviceability of functioning of injectors perform the following procedures:
    1. Connect an electrical wiring to injectors and start the engine.
    2. At the engine working at single turns serially disconnect an electrical wiring from each of injectors for the period of no more than five seconds. At shutdown of a serviceable injector turns of the engine will fall with simultaneous violation of their stability.
    3. If changes in the frequency of rotation and stability of turns do not happen, the corresponding injector is jammed, or for other reason its passability is broken. Nevertheless, before removing injectors for detailed survey and a clearing, check existence of a spark on candle wires.

Cleaning and check of a condition of injectors requires the special equipment therefore performance of this work should be charged to employees of dealer office of the manufacturing company of the car.
