6.2.1. Procedures of service of systems of injection of fuel and engine management and precautionary measure

In a secondary contour of electronic system of ignition dangerous high voltage can be developed. For this reason during the work with components of system of ignition or near them it is necessary to observe special precautionary measures.

Do not start the engine if are not sure of purity and reliability of fastening of tips of wires on battery plugs.

Do not use the charger for start of the car.

Before disconnecting from the wire battery (or to connect them) do not forget to switch off ignition (a key in position of OFF).

Before service of components of a control system of the engine surely disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

Before welding works surely disconnect wires from the battery, also do not forget to disunite the electric socket of the control unit (ECU).

Do not allow ECU warming up above than to 80 °C.

You watch purity and reliability of fastening of all electric connections.

Before disconnecting any of components of a control system of the engine surely disconnect ignition (OFF).

Before removal of components of the giving path of a power supply system surely dump pressure in system. Remember that the system is under pressure constantly (even at the switched-off engine).

Do not allow hit or a stream of water during cleaning of the engine on components of a control system of the engine.

At the address with all components of a control system of the engine, in particular with a lambda probe, be careful.

Do not make attempts of dismantling of electronic components. In case of an exit them out of operation you make replacement with blocks.

Do not give battery tension directly on fuel injectors.

Use of the diagnostic equipment

Universal measuring instrument of parameters of electric chains (multimeter)

When checking tension or resistance of chains use only a digital multimeter with an impedance not less than 10 megohms.

All measurements should be performed with the connected electric sockets of components if the return is not stipulated especially in instructions for check performance. At the same time the measuring probe of the device is entered into the socket from its reverse side. If probes are not rather thin, they can be improved by an attachment by the end of a piece of a wire, rather thin not to damage the corresponding socket. Take care of reliable electric and mechanical contact of a wire with the probe.

If for performance of check from the socket the pressurizing cap or the protection cover was removed, do not forget then to establish it into place.

Lamp sampler

Apply lamps samplers only where it is stipulated by instructions. In order to avoid failure of electronic components use only lamps samplers with power no more than 3.6 W.

For check of power of a lamp use the exact ampermeter (for example a digital multimeter) - at turning on of the measuring instrument consistently with a lamp and at the supply voltage of 12 V the indication should not exceed 0.3 A (300 мА).

If the suitable lamp sampler near at hand does not appear, make it of a light-emitting diode.

When using as an alarm element of a lamp sampler of a light-emitting diode you remember that the last by definition passes current only in one direction. Those the measuring probe of a lamp has to be connected to a positive side of the probed component.

Preliminary checks

Before starting search of causes of failure in actually control system of the engine execute the listed below checks.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check availability of fuel in a gasoline tank.
  2. Check a state and reliability of contacts of all electric sockets and plugs of grounding of components of a control system of the engine.
  3. Check a condition of the battery. Execute necessary corrections.
  4. Check a condition of the filtering air cleaner element. In case of need make replacement.
  5. Check fuel pressure.
  6. Check serviceability of a mechanical condition of the engine and correctness of its settings.
  7. Check a state and reliability of fastening of all vacuum hoses.
  8. Make sure of lack of leakages of air/losses of depression via the inlet pipeline, the case of a throttle and the delivery camera of an air path.
  9. Check serviceability of functioning of system of the operated ventilation of a case (PCV).
  10. Check the level of cooling liquid and make sure that the engine is heated-up up to the normal working temperature.
