9.3. Transfer case
Carburetor models of 4.2 l and 3.0 l
All models are equipped with the TX12A transfer case installed in a back part of transmission and allowing the driver to carry out the direct drive on forward wheels of the car in the modes of the raising or lowering transfers. The choice is carried out by means of the lever located on a wall of transmission and connected to a control lever of the transfer case by means of a switching rod. For permission of functioning of the block of selection of the power (RTO) (if that is provided) the lever of the selector can be transferred to situation "N".
Assembly of the transfer case consists of forward, central and back cases and comprises rotating in roller bearings the entrance, conducted and forward day off shaft. In order to avoid losses of the greasing liquid cases are equipped with epiploons.
Components of the transfer case
1 — a driving chain 2 — the bearing 3 — the conducted shaft 4 — switching rods 5 — switching forks 6 — the holder 7 — an entrance shaft 8 — an intermediate shaft 9 — a forward output shaft |
Rotation is transferred from a back part of the conducted transmission shaft to vents of an entrance shaft. The mode of the raising transfer joins by the shift of the sliding coupling equipped with vents forward that leads to direct input in gearing of an entrance shaft with conducted. Coupling shift brings shaft out of direct gearing back and carries out their joint through a gear wheel of the lowering transfer. At the same time rotation is transferred from an entrance shaft to a gear wheel of the lowering transfer by means of an intermediate shaft. The intermediate shaft since both ends is equipped with the sprung gear rings for the choice of a side play.
The drive on forward wheels is carried out by introduction to gearing of a driving asterisk and gear wheels of coupling of the conducted shaft by means of the internal shlits of the coupling of the synchronizer jointing synchronizer teeth with a coupling gear wheel. Synchronization is carried out at contact of a ring of the synchronizer with a cone on a coupling gear wheel wall. At the same time speeds of rotation of a driving asterisk and a gear wheel are compared and smoothness of switching is reached. The driving chain is used for transfer of rotation from a driving asterisk on a forward output shaft.
Models of 4.2 l of EFI
The transfer case differs from lack of the sprung gear ring, the dish-shaped spring and a remote ring considered above TX12A on the back end of an intermediate shaft. On release models since December, 1992 there is also lock no ring and a remote ring on the forward end of an intermediate shaft (see an accompanying illustration) - the components eliminated from 10.91 are marked *, eliminated from 12.91 - #.
1 — a gear ring 1 * — a gear ring 2 — a remote ring 2# — a remote ring 2 * — a remote ring 3# — a lock ring |
4 — the bearing 5 — a dish-shaped spring 5* — a dish-shaped spring 6 — an intermediate shaft 7 — an adjusting washer |
Since August, 1995 were eliminated a pro-rate on the forward end of an entrance shaft and a remote ring near the central bearing of the conducted shaft.
Procedures of service of the transfer case are identical to all models.
