9.1.3. Check of a condition of components

Models of 4.2 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wash out all components in solvent and dry them compressed air.
  2. Estimate degree of wear of components. Check them for existence of damages and deformation, paying special attention to a condition of shaft and gear wheels.
  1. Check bearings and couplings for existence of signs of wear, cracks and cavities (see an accompanying illustration), estimate, bearings how freely rotate.

If the bearing is equipped with a separator and its state cannot be defined visually, carefully wash out the bearing in solvent, slightly oil and slowly rotate a hand, checking for existence of breakthroughs and points of jamming.

  1. Mark all components of assembly of each synchronizer. Slowly remove the synchronizer coupling from a nave, remembering the adjusting provision of the sliding keys and springs. The sliding keys are sprung - track that they did not jump out at removal of the coupling. Put components of each assembly separately, so to exclude any confusion at assembly.

For removal of the sliding keys and a back spring from a nave of the synchronizer of the reverse gear before remove a plate of the holder by means of a stripper and give two bolts, previously having muffled a stopper the center of a nave.

  1. Check naves and couplings of synchronizers for existence of signs of wear and damages, paying special attention to a condition of shlits and grooves under installation of the sliding keys (components of assembly of the synchronizer of the fifth transfer are shown on an accompanying illustration).

2 — the sliding keys
3 — the coupling
4 — a spring
  1. Estimate a condition of the sliding keys. Check springs for existence of signs of damage, deformation and loss of the developed effort.
  2. Check the blocking rings of synchronizers for existence of cracks and signs of deformation. Put on rings the corresponding gear wheels before full landing and by means of the probe of lezviyny type measure gaps between rings and gear wheels (see an accompanying illustration). At excess by gaps of admissible values replace the corresponding rings.

  1. Check a condition of components of the top cover, paying special attention to rods and forks of switching. Replace the worn-out, deformed and damaged details.
  2. Examine casings of a cover, the selector and management of the lever of gear shifting on existence of signs of wear and damages.
  3. Check a transmission case, a casing of lengthening and a dome of coupling for existence of cracks and other damages.
  4. Replace the components which are not subject to restoration.

It makes sense to restore a carving in openings of aluminum cases. It is the best of all to charge this work to specialists of car repair shop.

If transmission is sorted for carrying out capital repairs, it will be expedient to replace bearings. All lock rings and cylindrical pins have to be replaced without fail. Lock rings are issued various thickness. Measure the required thickness of rings during their removal from transmission components.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Wash out all components in solvent and dry them compressed air.
  2. Estimate degree of wear of components. Check them for existence of damages and deformation, paying special attention to a condition of shaft and gear wheels.
  3. Check a state and freedom of rotation of bearings.
  5. Check naves and couplings of synchronizers for existence of signs of wear and damages, paying special attention to a condition of shlits and grooves under installation of the sliding keys.
  6. Estimate a condition of the sliding keys. Check springs for existence of signs of damage, deformation and loss of the developed effort.
  7. Check the blocking rings of synchronizers for existence of cracks and signs of deformation. Serially put on all rings (except for the blocking ring of the synchronizer of the reverse gear) the corresponding gear wheels before full landing and by means of the probe of lezviyny type measure gaps between rings and gear wheels. At excess by gaps of admissible values replace the corresponding rings.
  8. Lay a cone of the reverse gear on a flat surface and press to it a synchronizer ring. By means of the dial measuring instrument define distance between a back surface of a cone and the blocking ring. If the result of measurement exceeds 0.7 mm, replace a ring.
  9. Estimate a condition of rods and forks of gear shifting. Also check for existence of signs wear and damages the shock lever and a clamp.
  10. Examine the bearing plate, a dome of coupling and a casing of lengthening on existence of cracks and other damages.
  11. Replace the components which are not subject to restoration.

All lock and sealing rings, and also cylindrical pins are subject to replacement without fail. Remember that lock rings differ from each other on thickness - measure them at removal. Authors of this manual recommend to make replacement of bearings and epiploons also.
