6.1.4. Service of the fuel pump

Implementation of the procedures described below will require the suitable measuring instrument of pressure of fuel (manometer) and the three-running union.

Check of pressure of fuel

It is important that during check of a gasoline pump passability of fuel lines and the filter was not broken. Otherwise the probability of unreasonable replacement of the pump by false results of measurements is not excluded.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Establish drain capacity under a separator of fuel evaporations.
  1. Disconnect from a separator an inlet fuel hose an illustration) and a zakuporta the open end of the union of its connection on a separator.
  1. Connect the suitable manometer to a hose and include ignitions (turn a key in position of ON).
  2. Compare the indication of the manometer to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management). In case of need replace the fuel pump.

Check of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Check a condition of the safety locks of control of the fuel pump and engine located in the assembly block. Burned down replace.
  2. In the luggage compartment give fixing screws and remove fastened hooks.
  3. Give fixing screws and remove finishing of fastening of a rug from back door shutters.
  4. Put a rug forward and give screws of fastening of a cover of access. Uncover.
  5. Disconnect an electrical wiring from a gasoline pump (see an accompanying illustration).

  1. Connect the voltmeter between red-green (+) and black negative wires near the electric socket of a plait. Turn the engine and read the instrument of the voltmeter.
  2. If the voltmeter fixes battery tension, check existence of conductivity between red-green and black wires near the electric socket of a gasoline pump. If conductivity is absent, replace a gasoline pump.
  1. If there is no battery tension, remove the finishing panel under the assembly block of safety locks and disunite the electric socket of the control unit of the fuel pump (see an accompanying illustration).
  1. Check existence of conductivity between a black wire and mass of the case. If conductivity is absent, check a condition of an electrical wiring.
  2. Disconnect a wire from the starter plug S.
  3. Include ignition (a key in position of ON) and measure tension between brown (+) a wire and mass of the case of a body (-). Turn the ignition key in situation START and again check tension. If tension of the battery is absent in both cases, check a condition of a safety lock of engine management and the corresponding electrical wiring.
  4. Turn a key in position of ON and check tension between light green (+) a wire and mass of the case of a body (-). If tension of the battery is absent, check a condition of a safety lock of management of a gasoline pump and the corresponding electrical wiring.
  5. Again connect the starter plug S. Connect the electric socket of the control unit of a gasoline pump and start the engine. Connect the probe to white red (+) to a wire from a reverse side of the electric socket and check tension between this wire and mass of the case of a body (-). If tension of the battery is absent, check a condition of the generator of a plait of an electrical wiring.
  6. At the working engine connect the probe to a green wire from a reverse side of the electric socket and check tension between this wire and mass of the case of a body (-). If tension of the battery is absent, check a condition of the sensor switch of pressure of oil and the corresponding electrical wiring.
  7. Disconnect the starter plug S. Turn the ignition key in position of ON, connect the probe to green red wire from a reverse side of the electric socket of a gasoline pump and check tension between this wire and mass of the case of a body (-). Turn a key in situation START and again measure tension. If tension of the battery is absent in both cases, replace the control unit of a gasoline pump.
  8. If battery tension takes place, check a condition of an electrical wiring of a gasoline pump.

Removal and installation

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. In the luggage compartment give fixing screws and remove fastened hooks.
  3. Give fixing screws and remove finishing of fastening of a rug from back door shutters.
  4. Put a rug forward and give screws of fastening of a cover of access. Uncover.
  5. Disconnect also to a zakuporta fuel hoses. Disunite the electric socket.
  6. Give fixing bolts and take a gasoline pump with a sealing ring from the fuel tank.

Installation

Installation is made upside-down.

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Make sure of serviceability of a condition of a sealing ring.
  2. Check a condition of contacts of the electric socket.

Check of pressure of fuel

It is important that during check of a gasoline pump passability of fuel lines and the filter was not broken. Otherwise the probability of unreasonable replacement of the pump by false results of measurements is not excluded.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a hose of supply of fuel from the carburetor.
  2. Disconnect a hose of return of fuel from a gasoline pump and a zakuporta the union on the pump.
  3. Turn on the three-running union consistently in the line of supply of fuel to the carburetor.
  4. Connect the suitable measuring instrument of pressure of fuel (manometer) to the remained free branch of the union.

Approximately for 60 seconds turn on the engine for a conclusion from system of air traffic jams.

  1. Driving the engine on various turns, watch indications of the manometer. Compare results to standard requirements (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management). In case of need replace a gasoline pump.

Removal and installation

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.
  2. Mark hoses suitable to a gasoline pump and departing from it.
  3. Disconnect fuel hoses from a gasoline pump.
  4. Give fixing screws and take the pump with the insulator and laying (see an accompanying illustration).

  1. In case of need check the pump as it is described below.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Installation is made upside-down.
  2. In case of need replace the insulator and laying.

Check of serviceability of functioning of the fuel pump

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove the fuel pump.
  2. Lower the pump in the capacity filled with fuel and wash out it, having several times pressed the drive lever.
  3. Merge fuel from the pump. Block a finger the inlet union of the pump and work as the drive lever. Holding the lever in the top situation, release a finger - the air absorption sound has to be heard.
  4. Clamp a finger the final union and lift pressure in the pump, having worked as the lever. Pressure has to keep within two-three seconds.
  5. Again lift pressure in as it is described in the previous paragraph, then lower the pump in the container with fuel and check it for air leak.
