5.1. Service of a radiator

In order to avoid a scalding at a radiator cover otvorachivaniye on the hot engine it is necessary to observe certain precautionary measures. It will be correct to switch off the engine and to allow it to cool down. Wind a radiator cover with rags, turn it counterclockwise at first to the first emphasis and dump pressure in system. Then finally uncover a radiator.

Check of level of cooling liquid

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. On the cold engine check the level of cooling liquid in a broad tank of the cooling system. Level has to be between risks of MIN and MOVE on a tank wall.
  2. If the level of liquid is on the mark MIN or below, it is necessary to add it, having brought level to mark MOVE. Uncover a radiator and make sure that the radiator is filled with cooling liquid. In case of need add.
  3. Start the engine and check it for leak of cooling liquid. In case of need make check of a radiator pressure for the purpose of definition of suitability it to the further use and identifications of microsources of leaks.

Depletion and filling

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Uncover a radiator.
  2. In interior of the car transfer control levers a heater to the provision of NOTES (Hotly).
  3. Install a reception container under a drain stopper of a radiator. Turn out a drain stopper.
  4. Turn out the drain stopper of the block of cylinders located under a final collector in a back part of the engine. On models of 3.0 l weaken the stopper of production of air located near a water exit branch pipe on the inlet pipeline.
  5. Upon completion of an effluence of water screw into place a drain stopper of a radiator. Do not tighten it too hardly.
  6. Grease with sealant a drain stopper of the block of cylinders and screw it into place, having strongly tightened.
  7. Fill in in system fresh cooling liquid, the being correct mix of water with antifreeze (with anticorrosive additives) (see size tables and adjustments at the end of the Management).
  8. On models of 3.0 l tighten a stopper of production of air.
  9. At uncovered a radiator start the engine and accurately add cooling liquid in process of an exit of air traffic jams.
  10. Screw a cover of a radiator and wait for warming up of the engine up to the normal working temperature which is followed by opening of the thermostat. Check the engine for existence of leak of water.
  11. Kill the engine and after its cooling double-check the level of cooling liquid.
  12. Add liquid in a broad tank, having brought its level to mark MOVE. Check correctness of installation and tightening of covers of a radiator and a broad tank.

The models of 4.2 l of late years of release equipped with system of injection of fuel (EFI)

The procedure practically does not differ from described above for models of early years of release.

The exception makes only existence on the engine of a stopper of production of air (as on models of 3.0 l) which is located ahead of the delivery camera of an air path here (see an accompanying illustration). Thus, on engines of 4.2 l of EFI it is necessary to perform all additional procedures concerning models of 3.0 l.

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Merge from a radiator cooling liquid.
1 — a broad tank
2 — - washers
3 — - an overflow hose of a broad tank
4 — - a radiator cover
5 — - rubber pillows
6 — - a ventilating hose
7 — - a radiator
8 — - the top hose
9 — - a drain stopper
10 — - the lower hose
11 — - the top casing
12 — - the lower casing
  1. Disconnect the top hose and an overflow hose of a broad tank from a radiator (the radiator with the accompanying components is shown on an accompanying illustration).
  2. On the models equipped with the thermosensitive sensor switch of a radiator disconnect an electrical wiring from the sensor.
  3. On models of 4.2 l disconnect the lower and ventilating hoses from a radiator.
  4. On models of 3.0 l disconnect the lower hose of a radiator from a distributing pipe.
  5. On models with AT disconnect oil cooler hoses from a radiator. Zakuporte the ends of hoses in order to avoid hit in the oil cooler of dirt and for the purpose of minimization of losses of transmission liquid.
  6. Give bolts of fastening of the top casing of a radiator.
  7. Release clamps of fastening of the top casing of a radiator to lower and remove the top casing from the car.
  8. Remove the lower casing of a radiator.
  9. Give the bolts of fastening of a radiator located in the top part of the last and remove a radiator from the car.

At removal from the car of the radiator which was in the use it is not necessary to leave for a long time it empty. It is necessary to ship a radiator in a bathtub with clear water, or just to fill in in it water. Otherwise there can be an engine overheat at its start in operation caused by violation of circulation in the cooling system due to obstruction of internal channels of a radiator the dried-up deposits.

Washing and cleaning

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Remove a radiator from the car.
  1. Connect a garden hose to an entrance branch pipe of a radiator and make obratnopotochny washing of a radiator (see an accompanying illustration). Continue washing of a radiator until clear water does not begin to follow from it.

If excessive increase in a pressure in a hose or a weak exit of water is pointed to strong violation of passability of internal channels of a radiator which do not give in to elimination by obratnopotochny washing, it is necessary to deliver a radiator for recovery repair in a specialized workshop.

  1. Establish a radiator vertically (as it is established on the car) and wash out it outside on both sides a water stream under pressure. In order to avoid damage of plates of the heat exchanger try not to bring a hose nozzle to a radiator closer than on 40 ÷ 50 cm. Continue washing until all mud deposits are removed from gaps between heat exchanger plates.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Installation is made upside-down.
  2. Bring assembly of a radiator to a motive compartment of the car, having tracked that two the rubberized pin guides correctly settled down on a cross beam.
  3. Establish a radiator into position and strongly tighten fixing bolts.
  4. On models with AT take caps from hoses of the oil cooler and connect the last to unions of side tanks of a radiator. Reliably tighten collars of fastening of hoses.
  5. There where it is required connect an electrical wiring to the thermosensitive sensor switch.
  6. Connect hoses to a radiator, having tracked correctness of installation of fixing collars.
  7. Fill in in the cooling system cooling liquid. Start the engine and check it for water leak.
  8. On models with AT check the level of transmission liquid, also check transmission for existence of signs of leaks.
