8.1.1. Electric checks

At suspicion on malfunction of system of ignition first of all make sure that all its components are pure and dry, and plugs are not oxidized and reliably fixed. Check a condition (charge level) of the battery and correctness of installation of a corner of an advancing of ignition.

If elimination of the revealed defects the engine is still not started, execute the listed below special checks.

Models of 3.0 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect VV a wire from the suspected spark plug and connect it to obviously serviceable candle. Expose an interelectrode gap of a candle of equal about 6 mm, reliably ground the candle case on weight and ask the assistant to turn the engine. If the spark is not formed, pass to the checks described below.
  2. Remove all VV of a wire and by means of an ohmmeter check them for existence defined (with the set resistive resistance) conductivity. Check a condition of the VV plugs of wires.
  3. Disunite the electric socket of the coil. Include ignition and check for presence of tension of the battery the plug of 1 socket of a plait (see an accompanying illustration). Tension has to take place.
1 — the socket on a plait
2 — the socket on the coil
  1. At the switched-off ignition disunite the electric socket of the distributor. Check for conductivity existence an electrical wiring a boundary the socket of a plait of the coil and the socket of a plait of the distributor (see an accompanying illustration).
1 — the coil plait socket
2 — the distributor plait socket
  1. Disconnect VV a wire from the ignition coil. Give fixing bolts and remove the coil from the car.
  2. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between ignition coil plugs. The required value makes 0.8 ÷ 1.0 Ohms.
  3. Measure resistance between the plug of 1 socket of the coil and the VV plug of a wire of the coil. The required value makes 7.6 ÷ 11.4 kOhm.
  4. In case of need replace the coil.
  5. Uncover the distributor. Having turned the engine, achieve combination of the blade of an alarm rotor with a ledge on the inductive sensor. By means of the pure probe of lezviyny type measure the size of an air gap between the blade of a rotor and a ledge of the sensor. In case of need weaken fixing screws and as appropriate correct position of the sensor.
  6. If during performance of the checks described above no violations are revealed, and the engine is not started, remove spark plugs and check their general condition and size of an interelectrode gap.

Models of 4.2 l

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

  1. Disconnect VV a wire from the suspected spark plug and connect it to obviously serviceable candle. Expose an interelectrode gap of a candle of equal about 6 mm, reliably ground the candle case on weight and ask the assistant to turn the engine. If the spark is not formed, pass to the checks described below.
  2. At the included ignition by means of a lamp sampler check existence of food on the positive plug of primary contour of the coil of ignition. If food is absent (the lamp does not burn), check for conductivity existence an electrical wiring between the battery, the lock of ignition and the coil.
  3. Remove all VV of a wire and by means of an ohmmeter check them for existence defined (with the set resistive resistance) conductivity. Check a condition of the VV plugs of wires.
  4. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery and an electrical wiring from the ignition coil.
  5. By means of an ohmmeter measure resistance between positive and negative plugs of primary contour of the coil. The required value makes 1.08 ÷ of 1.32 Ohms.
  6. Measure resistance between the positive plug of primary contour and the VV plug of a wire of the coil of ignition. If the result of measurement exceeds the limit of 9.0 ÷ 13.4 kOhm, replace the coil.
  7. If during performance of the checks described above no violations are revealed, and the engine is not started, remove spark plugs and check their general condition and size of an interelectrode gap.
